Also affectionately called “leper pine” (by me), or “Swiss pine” by Rob at USA Custom Guitars. This wood is re-claimed from a 150 year old, 150 foot tall grainery in Minnesota which was constructed from old growth Minnesota-grown eastern white pine, before the “rape of the White Pine” era – complete with square nail holes. The satin finish works well with this wood. It’s outfitted with Curtis Novak pickups and a beautiful steel/nickel-plated bridge by Mark Grant’s Kustom Garage. I’ve used 8-32 inserts for the bridge mounting. This wood is ridiculously light – the inserts provide a solid, strip-free bridge mounting. The tone is warm and woody, with a strong pine signature.
